Hi, I’m Tereasa,
My home is the on beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia where I have been blessed with beautiful family, oceans and mountains around me.
YOGA:
For me, my personal practice and the teaching, of Yoga/Yoga Therapy has, and still is, an incredible 25 yr ongoing journey of self-transformation. Every area and role of my life (wife, mother, grandmother, teacher & business person) has been transformed & is supported by my practice. I have the deepest gratitude & respect for the Yoga teachings handed down from T.Krishnamacharya and honour all teachers and mentors that have assisted and continue to assist my life and learnings.
Over the years my love of Yoga has taken me on return trips to Chennai where I was able to deepen my knowledge and experience within: teaching Yoga/ Yoga Therapy; deepen in to my own personal practice; and the powerful Yogic tool of Mantra. My passion for the latter, Mantra, lead me to study with Russill Paul, USA (Spiritual Leader,Teacher, Author & Musician) where, over 3 years, I completed Mastery of Mantra and received personal mentoring. Onwards from here I was very privilidged to complete my Vedic Chanting Teacher qualification (following in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya) here in Australia.
2017-2019 WINDS of CHANGE: This period of my life bought 3 major changes. One, the closing of my much loved studio 'Allambie Yoga Studio' (2008-2018), which was a step towards a greater work/travel plan around our beautiful country. The other two changes where most certainly unplanned and were incredibly dificult. However, as life teaches us, challenges often present a path towards self transformation...as my experiences of cancer (2017) and the loss of my Mother (1928-2018), turned out to be. These events became the doorway to a deepening journey unto my soul where I began to reclaim certain events, mystical in nature, that had occured during my young child and adult life. The support and quidance from my Teachers/Mentors and Family during this time was invaluable, alongside my training and personal devotion to yoga/mantra. Together, I was able to not only heal from my cancer surgery...I also found a new seat within my heart for self/Self. 2020 to Now: My year began in the remote location of Strahan, Tasmania, where my world was full of teaching yoga to the community; working part time in the tourism industry; and a diary booked 2 years ahead with plans of travel, adventure and teaching. As the world that we knew turned a sharp 180 degrees, so did mine. Re-routed back to our home on the Sunshine Coast where, as we all did, had to adjust to the world in a new way. A blessing born from covid-19 is that I was able to create a new Yoga Therapy and Teaching space at home and online. My joy, Mantra on the Mat, has begun a new exciting phase. |
What is MANTRA on the MAT:
'Mantra on the Mat is my umbrella for all that I offer. In some ways umbrella is the perfect analogy, as mantra has been the number one yogic tool that has offered me protection, support and freedom to walk a path I was once denied (myself) due to my own inner fears. It uncovered the voice of heart, and this is ever unfolding...and it has and does give me the strength, vision and clarity to do what I feel deeply to do.
Mantra on the Mat as a practice is not new by any means, it is simply yoga with a strong emphasis on the tool of chanting. Born from my love of the classical teaching where, mantra is partnered and included within every aspect of the practice of Yoga. This style is very dear to my heart; the subtle energy vibrations nurtured within Vedic chants supports health and healing at many levels.
For me, this practice uplifts my heart, mind & body and has offered me great support during many life challenges. Most who know me have heard me say: 'It is my freeway to a place seated deep within me...one of great inner peace and reflection...and has open the door for self transformation'.
All my relationships have changed...my relationship with life...with others...and most importantly the relationship I have with my-self/Self...
All levels of my being...body, mind & beyond, nurtured through the classical practice of what I have termed, my joy...Mantra on the Mat...
This is what I love to share most...
Namaste...Tereasa
