CLASSICAL YOGA & mantra on the mat

I’ve been practicing Yoga for nearly 25yrs, 15 of which I have been a recognized Yoga Instructor, sharing Classical Yoga, following in the tradition of Sri T.Krishnamacharya.  My passion for the transformative and healing effects that the path and tools of yoga offer led me to India 3 times and to  pursue further studies to become qualified as a Yoga Therapist and Vedic Chanting Teacher.

I am forever grateful for the light of Yoga which has been carried and shared by the Teachers before me...

Most of my sharing over the years has been teaching from my home studio in Maroochydore, Sunshine Coast, QLD "Allambie Yoga Studio".  This was a blissful 10yrs where I was able to teach and share my passion from a space that my Son had built specifically for Yoga.

In 2018, my beloved studio closed as my husband and I prepared for a work/travel experience around our our beautiful country.  Our dream came to fruition and we travelled from Strahan, Tasmania to nearly the tip of Queensland.  I had the greatest pleasure of teaching in the small community of Strahan and together, my husband and I also worked supporting the local Caravan Park Managers...

It was very exciting times, sharing my passion of Yoga, making new relationships and learning to work in a completely new industry.

Yes...covid-19 and like many others we had to adjust, and home became the place we needed to be.

Since late 2020, when possible, I have been offering small group classes and private consultations,

from my new home Studio space in Maroochydore.

Yoga has been life-changing for me at every level of my being...body, breath, mind and beyond.

It helped me heal from injuries sustained from a motorbike accident in my early 20's and in my 50's yoga supported my cancer journey.

Now, and all along the way, through the practice of yoga I gain new insights of self. From here change happens and both my inner and outer world transform and evolve...and in the doing of this, it is with effortless ease.

They say your greatest struggle can be your greatest Healer...this was the case for me.

When I first attended Yoga Teacher Training we had to study, learn and chant the

Patanjali Yoga of the oldest texts on Yoga and one which guides and supports the path and teaching of Classical Yoga.

Chanting was terrifying for me. For many years, from child to my mid-thirties, I struggled with personal experiences that frightened me to  my core. These experiences were ones which manifested in my sleep and sometimes in moments of quietness.  I can say now, as I could not them...they were of a spiritual kind.  I did not understand them, nor did I speak of them...

I locked them very deep within myself.

Vedic Chanting became the slowly unlocked my voice and my understanding as well.  Practiced along side bhavana/deep intention it has freed a space in me that held much fear.  Throughout this journey I have come to make sense of my life in a new light, and this light continues to be nurtured through practice.

Mantra and Bhavana are the most powerful tools of Yoga.

For me they were the source that helped me find my voice, to become a teacher and give me strength to meet life challenges as they arise.  It is from this level I wish to share, and to encourage anyone who feels the pull of a transformative journey towards Self.

This particular story of my life, is the why to 'MANTRA ON THE MAT' being the beacon for all my offerings.
